  8. BARBARA CARTLAND, 88. Britain's queen of romance recently
  9. dictated her 500th novel, Spirit of Love. This phenomenal output
  10. has kept the PRINCESS OF WALES' stepgrandmum in bespoke hats and
  11. Rolls-Royces. Spirit features a young woman who "saves herself"
  12. for her true love. Fans will have to wait quite a while for the
  13. veddy proper denouement, however. Cartland writes at such a pace
  14. that her publishers have got around to sending only about 450
  15. volumes to the printer.
